Monday night was another award-winning speech. The Succession certainly succeeded when the White Lotus was in full bloom.
Apple TV + comedy Ted Lasso took home several major Emmy Awards on Monday night, taking home four trophies: the second consecutive award for Outstanding Comedy Series and acting honors for Brett Goldstein and Jason Sudeikis.
HBO’s Succession could have been gearing up for a top Emmy pick. The show won Best Drama Series, Best Supporting Actor for Matthew McFadden’s performance, and a writing award for creator Jesse Armstrong’s screenplay.
Perhaps HBO was the real winner this year, as The White Lotus Show had a five-star night and took home the biggest awards: Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett snagged acting awards, and creator Mike White netted writing and directing prizes.
The ceremony, held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, was hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson. The awards ceremony also honored Gina Davis with the Governor’s Award.
Other celebrities who enjoyed the night included Michael Keaton, Lizzo, Amanda Seyfried, and Jerrod Carmichael.
