As Ariana Debose said, “Broadway’s back, baby. And she’s waiting for you.”
The Tony Awards will be returning for its 75th year to Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, and we can’t wait!
The event, hosted by DeBose – who recently snagged her Oscar award as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story – conducts the first-ever comeback to its original month and venue since before the pandemic. It also marks the first time in Tony Awards history that it broadcast live coast-to-coast.
The awards show was aired on CBS, and Paramount+ – coverage will be split.
The Paramount+ hour highlighted several favorite shows collecting golden trophies like Six for Best Costume Design and Best Original Score of a Musical and MJ for Best Sound Design and Best Lighting Design of a Musical.
On the other hand, CBS brought the show to a celebratory mood at its opening, highlighting DeBose flaunting her skills with an excellent mash-up performance of current and past musical numbers.
