Jack Davenport, known for his role as Commodore Norrington in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, recently expressed his willingness to be a part of a Norrington spin-off.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly and his co-stars at SCAD TVfest in Atlanta, Davenport commented on the possibility of the spin-off, noting that supporting characters from Marvel and Star Wars are getting their own Disney+ shows, so why not Pirates?
While he joked that a Norrington reboot has a slim chance of happening, he called out to Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer, saying he’s ready to reprise his role and be a part of it.
“A snowball in hell has a stronger chance of survival than the Commodore Norrington reboot, but sure,” Davenport said with a chuckle.
Giving a shout out to Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer, he added, “Jerry, if you’re watching, which I know you’re not, I’m there. Yes, you can put me back in brigade, I’ll do it.”
It may seem like a long shot, but with the way that superhero and sci-fi franchises have brought back dead characters, there’s a chance that Jack Davenport’s character, Commodore Norrington, could make a return in a potential Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off.
Despite the fact that Norrington met his demise in the franchise’s third film, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, fans are familiar with the fact that resurrection is not uncommon in this type of genre.
