Harry Styles has always been a fan of Mick Jagger. However, the Rolling Stone icon is contemplating how similar he seems to the former One Direction member.
Jagger claims he doesn’t think Styles “moves like Jagger” – physically or artistically.
“I mean, I used to wear a lot more eye make-up than him,” Jagger told The Sunday Times during his description of his “easy relationship with the singer. “Come on, I was much more androgynous.”
Jagger added, “He doesn’t have a voice like mine or move on stage like me; he just has a superficial resemblance to my younger self, which is fine – he can’t help that.”
The comparison between 78-year-old legend Mick Jagger and young Styles is not just metaphorical. The two men share many similarities, including their passion for music as well as an unshakable attitude that sets them apart from traditional gender norms.
In fact, the young singer even played the rock musician in a Saturday Night Live episode where he played “Celebrity Family Feud” while imitating a 70s Jagger in a cream-colored suit and blonde wig. In addition, for the music video of his latest single, “As It Was,” he based his style on Jagger with a red jumpsuit designed with sequences.
“I’ve been really open with it with my friends, but that’s my personal experience; it’s mine,” Styles said in an interview with Better Homes and Gardens about exploring his sexuality with his style.
“The whole point of where we should be heading, which is toward accepting everybody and being more open, is that it doesn’t matter, and it’s not about having to label everything, not having to clarify what boxes you’re checking.”
