Selena Gomez Speaks Out Against Online Harassment Towards Hailey Bieber

In the world of entertainment, celebrity feuds are common occurrences that often make headlines. From Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian to Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, the media loves to report on any type of drama or conflict between famous people.

Unfortunately, this often leads to fans taking sides and engaging in online harassment and bullying towards the targeted celebrities. Recently, Selena Gomez has spoken out against the hate directed towards Hailey Bieber, and she’s calling for it to end once and for all.

For years, rumors have circulated about a feud between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber.

In a statement posted on her Instagram story, Selena Gomez revealed that Hailey Bieber had reached out to her to let her know that the latter had been receiving death threats and hateful messages from fans.

Gomez expressed her dismay at this behavior and emphasized that she has always been an advocate for kindness and positivity.

“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” Gomez wrote in a post to her Instagram story. “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying.”

“I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop,” she concluded.

Gomez’s statement is a powerful reminder that celebrities are people too, and they deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. It’s easy for fans to get caught up in the drama and forget that their words and actions have real-world consequences. In recent years, the issue of online harassment has become a growing concern, and it’s important that we all do our part to combat it.

Selena vs. Hailey

The alleged conflict between the two stemmed from their relationships with Justin Bieber.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez had a highly publicized on-again, off-again relationship in the early 2010s. Despite breaking up multiple times, the two continued to make headlines together for years.

In 2014, Bieber was spotted with Hailey Bieber, and rumors of a romance began swirling. Over the next few years, Bieber seemed to go back and forth between the two, eventually breaking things off for good with Gomez and marrying Hailey in 2018.

This messy love triangle has led to speculation and drama between Gomez and Hailey Bieber. However, Hailey has been quick to deny any rumors of animosity between the two. In a September interview, she insisted that there had never been any overlap between her relationship with Justin and his previous relationship with Selena.

“When him and I ever started, like, hooking up or, like, anything of that sort, he was not ever in a relationship ever, at any point,” she said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship.”

Hailey also emphasized that there is “no drama” between her and Gomez, and that they have a relationship based on “respect” and “love.”

The ongoing drama between Gomez, Hailey, and Justin has been making headlines for years, with fans speculating about everything from secret hookups to social media shade. But things recently took a turn for the worse when Bieber and his friend Kylie Jenner were accused of mocking Gomez on social media.

Bullying is Never Okay

It all started when Gomez shared a video on TikTok in which she accidentally messed up her eyebrow makeup. Shortly after, Jenner posted some photos showing off her own eyebrows, as well as Bieber’s, in what many interpreted to be a dig at Gomez. Fans quickly took notice and called out Jenner and Bieber for their behavior.

Jenner responded to the backlash, saying that people were “reaching” by accusing her of making fun of Gomez. But the damage had already been done, and the incident only fueled speculation about the ongoing conflict between the three stars.

Gomez herself weighed in on the situation, commenting on Jenner’s post to say that she was a fan of the reality star. But she also used the opportunity to call for kindness and consideration towards others’ mental health.

In the comments of her TikTok video, Gomez wrote: “Please, please be kinder and consider others’ mental health. My heart has been heavy and I only want good for everyone.”

Fans Support Gomez

Many fans have taken to social media to express their support for Gomez and condemn the behavior of Bieber and Jenner. Some have even gone as far as to call for a boycott of their products and brands.

One fan tweeted, “It’s not okay to bully anyone, especially someone who has been open about their struggles with mental health. Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner should be ashamed of themselves.” Another wrote, “I used to be a fan of Kendall Jenner, but after seeing how she treats Selena, I can’t support her anymore.”

The incident has also reignited the debate over the impact that social media has on mental health, with many fans expressing concern for Gomez’s well-being. Some have even called for more awareness and education around cyberbullying and its effects.

But while the majority of fans have been quick to support Gomez, there are also those who are defending Bieber and Jenner. Some argue that the situation has been blown out of proportion, while others believe that Gomez is equally responsible for the ongoing conflict.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, it’s clear that the feud has struck a nerve with fans. It serves as an indication of the power that social media can have, both to connect people and to cause harm. Let’s hope that all involved can find a way to move past this incident and work towards a more positive and respectful discourse in the future.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have returned, and this time they have a new look that could have been ripped from the Spider-Verse.

The first teaser trailer for the forthcoming movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, showcases a unique comic book-inspired animation style that has captured the attention of fans worldwide.

The teaser trailer shows the Turtles as coarse, motor-mouthed teenagers, who are throwing ninja stars at each other on a rooftop. The dialogue between the Turtles is humorous and irreverent, with one of them even mocking the physical appearance of our half-shell heroes.

The villains in the movie also seem to be equally comical, with one remarking on how the Turtles look like “Little Shreks.”

The new movie features four teenage Turtles, each with their distinct personalities and quirks. Leonardo, voiced by Nicolas Cantu, is the leader of the group, while Michelangelo, voiced by Shamon Brown Jr., is the easy-going party dude. Donatello, voiced by Micah Abbey, is the tech whiz, and Raphael, voiced by Brady Noon, is the hot-headed rebel.

One of the most noticeable changes in this movie is the animation style. The movie has adopted a similar style to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which was a massive success and praised for its innovative and visually stunning animation. This new style has given the Turtles a fresh and modern look, making them more appealing to a new generation of fans.

Successes and Sequels

The success of the first movie led to a sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, which was released in 1991. The sequel was more light-hearted and featured more humor and action than the first movie. The Turtles face off against the villainous duo of Shredder and the scientist, Professor Perry, who are after the ooze that mutated the Turtles.

In 1993, the third movie in the series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, was released. The movie saw the Turtles travel back in time to feudal Japan, where they team up with a group of samurai to take on an evil warlord. The movie was not as well-received as the previous two films and is often regarded as the weakest in the series.

China’s Strong Manufacturing Performance Could Mitigate Global Downturn

With the official manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) rising to its highest level in more than a decade, China’s factory sector expanded at an extraordinary rate in February.

This encouraging news comes at a time when manufacturing expansion in other regions of Asia has slowed down due to a slowdown in global demand, high inflation, and rising interest rates. The findings of surveys taken on Wednesday demonstrate China’s remarkable resiliency in the face of broader economic challenges.

The National Bureau of Statistics’ official PMI increased in February from 50 points in January to 52 points. Additionally, activity had increased for the first time in seven months, according to a private sector survey carried out by Caixin/Markit.

Increasing from 48.4 in January to 50.9 in February, the Caixin/Markit manufacturing PMI. These figures show that Chinese factories have recovered significantly since the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in the latter part of last year.

Given the difficulties other nations in the area are experiencing, China’s robust manufacturing sector recovery is particularly noteworthy.

For instance, the manufacturing sector in South Korea shrank in February for the first time in five months, with the nation’s PMI falling to 49.8. The slowest growth in eight months was seen in February according to the PMI for Japan, which fell to 50.6.

It is crucial for the global economy that China continues to perform well because it may help to avert a predicted recession in the upcoming year. China’s ability to continue growing could be a bright spot in an otherwise challenging economic environment as the US Federal Reserve keeps interest rates high for longer.

Asian Countries

However, the economic slowdown in Asia continues, as India and Australia both reported a slower growth rate in the quarter ending December. South Korea’s exports also fell for the fifth consecutive month in February, highlighting the pain that slowing global demand is causing the region’s manufacturers.

The weaker economic data in Asia highlights the challenge faced by policymakers in the region. While they are attempting to rein in inflation with higher interest rates, they must be careful not to choke off the economic recoveries already facing pressure from the global economic slowdown.

Analysts say that the impact of fast-paced interest rate hikes is already being felt in many countries, with Bank of Japan (BOJ) board member Junko Nakagawa stating that “overseas economies are showing stronger signs of slowdown.”

A survey conducted on Wednesday revealed that Japan’s final au Jibun Bank PMI dropped at the fastest rate in over two years, falling to 47.7 in February from January’s 48.9. This is despite China’s recovering economy, which is the world’s second-largest, and suggests that it may not be enough to counteract the challenges faced by export-reliant economies such as Japan due to weak chip demand and supply constraints.

This weak outcome followed data showing a significant drop in Japan’s factory output in January, due to slumping production of cars and semiconductor equipment. This casts doubt on the BOJ’s view that the economy is on course for a steady recovery.

The slowdown in Asia is a concerning trend for the global economy, given the significant role that the region plays in driving global growth. The rise of COVID-19 cases in many Asian countries has added further challenges to the economic landscape, making it more difficult for governments and central banks to navigate the ongoing challenges.

Economic Impacts

Despite the challenges, policymakers in the region are working to implement measures to support economic growth. This includes ongoing efforts to boost domestic demand, as well as targeted support for key sectors such as technology and manufacturing.

Factory activity continued to decrease in Taiwan and Malaysia in February, and although the Philippines saw expansion, it was at a slower pace than in January, according to recent surveys.

The ongoing slowdown in the manufacturing sector highlights the ongoing challenges faced by economies in the region, as they attempt to navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic slowdown.

However, India’s manufacturing activity expanded at a relatively strong pace in February, albeit slower than in previous months. The country’s private PMI survey showed that while growth had slowed slightly, it remained buoyant due to robust domestic demand.

South Korea’s exports also saw a decline of 7.5% in February from a year earlier, marking the fifth straight month of declines. The drop was partly due to a plunge in semiconductor exports, which have been impacted by global supply chain disruptions.

Regulators are Positive

Despite the challenges facing many Asian economies, policymakers are hopeful that China’s reopening from COVID-19 curbs, along with the resilience seen so far in the U.S. and European economies, will help underpin global growth this year.

The International Monetary Fund recently raised its 2023 global growth outlook slightly due to “surprisingly resilient” demand in the United States and Europe, along with an easing of energy costs and the reopening of China’s economy after the country abandoned its strict COVID-19 restrictions.

While there are still many challenges ahead, there are also reasons for cautious optimism. Many Asian economies have shown resilience and adaptability in the face of ongoing challenges, and are continuing to work towards implementing measures to support economic growth.

This includes ongoing efforts to boost domestic demand, as well as targeted support for key sectors such as technology and manufacturing.

Angela Bassett on the Challenges of Fully Immersing in a Character

After starring in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming Elvis biopic, Angela Bassett, a well-known actress and recent Oscar nominee, can empathize with Austin Butler’s difficulties in losing his Elvis Presley accent.

As Bassett revealed to The New Yorker, she faced similar struggles after playing Tina Turner in the 1993 biopic.

Bassett, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, acknowledged the challenges of character immersion and the lasting effects it can have on an actor’s performance.

Empathizing with Butler’s current situation, she spoke words of encouragement and reminded him that with time and practice, the accent will eventually wear off.

“Tina’s laugh and the way she spoke took over. It took over, not as long as Elvis — maybe about four months after,” she stated. “You so lived and breathed and began to see life through their perspective. You had to. They’re a part of you. I think that’s what’s going on with him.”

In the Elvis biopic, Butler plays the King of Rock and Roll and Tom Hanks plays his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The Luhrmann-directed film is set to hit theaters in 2022 and has been highly anticipated by Butler and Presley fans.

What’s Love Got to Do With It, in which Bassett played Tina Turner, brought her critical acclaim and made her a well-known actress in Hollywood. Her involvement in the role provides a special perspective on the difficulties associated with fully embodying a character and separating oneself from that character after filming is finished.

Different After This Time

“You have to bid it farewell, and it’s hard to let it go, because you’ve enjoyed it, you survived it, you delivered, and you’re proud of that,” she added.

“You got an opportunity and you hit it out of left field. So it takes a moment to get back to regular you. But you’re different after this moment. Now you’re Austin, who did that great performance.”

Butler continues to try to get rid of his Elvis accent, but it’s comforting to know he’s not alone in his struggles. With the support of fellow actors like Bassett, he’s looking forward to his future roles and the opportunity to fully immerse himself in new characters and storylines.

Actor Gerard Butler, originally from Anaheim, Calif., has been fully immersed in the persona of Elvis Presley since starring in the 2021 biopic “Elvis.” The film was released last June and since then, Butler has retained Presley’s deep drawl while hosting Saturday Night Live in December and during his Best Actor acceptance speech at the Golden Globes in January. However, Butler recently revealed that he is trying to return to his normal tone after dedicating three years of his life to becoming the “Jailhouse Rock” singer.

During a latest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Butler explained that he’s actively working to shed the accent he adopted for the role.

“I am getting rid of the accent, but I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing,” he said. “One song took 40 takes.”

It’s clear that Butler’s dedication to the role of Elvis Presley was intense, and he underwent extensive training to ensure that he was able to fully embody the King of Rock and Roll.

A Process So Grueling

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in June, Butler detailed the grueling process of rehearsing with dialect coaches to achieve the perfect Presley voice for the film.

“It was a lot of work, but it was fun,” he said. “I spent a lot of time with dialect coaches, singing coaches, guitar coaches, piano coaches, movement coaches. We went through every facet of Elvis’ life.”

Butler’s commitment to the role is admirable, and his efforts paid off in a powerful and emotional performance that accurately captured the essence of the beloved singer.

Despite the challenges of adopting the Presley accent, it’s clear that Butler’s dedication to his craft is unwavering. As he continues to work on his vocal cords and adjust to his normal tone, fans of the actor eagerly anticipate what he’ll tackle next.

“I would take an interview or a speech that he had on stage where he is talking to the audience, and I would practice it as though I was trying to get it to be exact,” he stated.

“That way, I couldn’t hear a difference between my voice and his. Then I would have my dialect coach there going, ‘This is off a little bit,’ and I’d practice. I’d just keep honing it in until I could get as specific as possible.”

Whether he’s portraying a legendary musician or taking on a completely new challenge, Butler’s passion and commitment to his craft are sure to shine through in his future performances.

Jeremy Clarkson Apologizes to Prince Harry and Meghan for Controversial Column in The Sun

Jeremy Clarkson, the previous host of Top Gear, has publicly apologized to Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for a controversial column he wrote in The Sun newspaper.

In the article, Clarkson used disparaging language towards Meghan and made offensive references to her.

In a statement released on Monday, Clarkson said that he had emailed the couple on Christmas Day to express his remorse for his language and behavior. He acknowledged that his words were “disgraceful” and stated that he was “profoundly sorry” for any hurt he may have caused.

The column in question, which was published in December, included a passage where Clarkson wrote about Meghan being pelted with excrement. The Sun newspaper has since removed the article from its website and issued an apology for its publication.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan commented on the incident, stating that it was not an isolated incident for Clarkson and that the couple had received similar treatment from the media in the past.

Clarkson had also released a statement before Christmas, expressing his regret for the hurt caused by his article. He stated that he was “horrified” to have caused such offense and promised to take a more responsible approach in the future.

In the column, Clarkson wrote that he lay in bed “dreaming of the day when she [Meghan] is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her”.

Furthermore, he said “everyone who’s my age thinks the same way”, and that her appeal to young individuals who “think she was a prisoner of Buckingham Palace” made him “despair.”

After It Was Published

A record number of 25,000 complaints have been made to the press regulator Ipso since the publication of Jeremy Clarkson’s controversial column in The Sun newspaper.

The piece, which made offensive references to the Duchess of Sussex, has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

In response, Clarkson took to social media to issue a public apology and take responsibility for his actions.

In a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, the presenter of Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm and ITV’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire? admitted that he usually reads what he’s written before filing his copy but on this occasion, he was home alone and in a hurry.

He acknowledged that this was no excuse for the hurt caused by his words and promised to be more mindful in the future.

“So when I’d finished, I just pressed send. And then, when the column appeared the next day, the land mine exploded.”

He acknowledged that he had made a mistake and realized that he had “completely messed up” after reading the article in The Sun.

“You are sweaty and cold at the same time. And your head pounds. And you feel sick. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Had I really said that? It was horrible.”

He explained that he had been inspired by a scene in Game of Thrones when he wrote about the Duchess being abused in the street, but he forgot to mention it in the article.

“So it looked like I was actually calling for revolting violence to rain down on Meghan’s head.”

The Duke and Duchess

According to a statement from a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Clarkson only sent his apology to Prince Harry.

“While a new public apology has been issued today by Mr Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny,” the spokesperson stated.

“Unless each of his other pieces were also written ‘in a hurry’, as he states, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident shared in haste, but rather a series of articles shared in hate.”

In a recent conversation with ITV, Prince Harry criticized Clarkson and also expressed his disappointment that members of the Royal Family did not speak out about the issue at the time.

In his statement, Clarkson further said he had “tried to explain” himself. “But still, there were calls for me to be sacked and charged with a hate crime. More than 60 MPs demanded action to be taken. ITV, who make Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and Amazon, who make the Farm Show and the Grand Tour, were incandescent.”

It was then that he “wrote to everyone who works with me saying how sorry I was” and emailed the duke and duchess.

“On Christmas morning, I emailed Harry and Meghan in California to apologise to them too. I said I was baffled by what they had been saying on TV but that the language I’d used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry.”

The Clash

Clarkson recently had a public spat with Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, over an article that was published in The Sun. The article, which was written by Clarkson, criticized Markle for her recent public statements on voting and political activism.

In his article, Clarkson wrote that Markle’s statements were “divisive” and that she should “stick to acting.” He also accused her of being “a Hollywood actress who hasn’t lived here long enough to understand our country.”

Markle responded to the article by issuing a statement through her spokesperson, in which she said, “This is just further proof that the media landscape is toxic and needs reform.”

She also pointed out that she has been a resident of the United Kingdom for several years and has “a deep understanding and appreciation for this country.”

Lacey Chabert Defends Hallmark Against Statements from Candace Cameron Bure

Lacey Chabert, a former fictional Toaster Strudel heiress who is now the queen of the Hallmark Channel, has commented on Candace Cameron Bure’s criticism of the channel.

After Bure claimed that Hallmark is “a completely different network than when I started” because of a leadership change, Chabert, a staple on the cable network which has appeared in more than 20 Hallmark movies, defended the channel.

Hallmark reiterated a commitment to diversity and inclusion in its programming, including LGTBQ+ storylines.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Chabert, who, in addition to her starring roles, also executive produces and develops titles, said that she has “found a real home in Hallmark.”

Furthermore, she added that any alteration she’s seen amid the shift “has been embracing our creative ideas, and it’s my responsibility to the audience who continue to tune into my movies that I give the best I have to offer.”

“That’s always my mission,” she stated. “I’ll never abandon what Hallmark means for me, which is that everything is centered around the heart. I don’t think there are any plans for that to change anytime soon.”

When questioned about her thoughts on prominent Hallmark stars “defecting” to Great American Family, such as Bure and Danica McKellar (who is currently the network’s chief creative officer), Chabert merely expressed her good wishes for them.

“I wish everybody the best,” she stated. “I really can’t comment on it further other than I care about everybody involved.”

Network Poach

When asked if the network had attempted to “poach” her, Chabert responded diplomatically.

“I’m with Hallmark, and I work for them,” the Mean Girls star stated. “I’m so sorry, but I’ll just have to leave it at that.”

Before joining GAF, Bure was a stalwart of Hallmark, and last month, when she discussed the leadership changes in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, she stirred some controversy.

Notably, her remarks regarding the exclusion of LGBTQ+ films and the maintenance of traditional weddings as the mainstay of GAF programming garnered criticism from other actors and spectators.

The entire situation caused the former Full House cast member to explain her position in a statement.

“I am a devoted Christian. Which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God,” Bure stated.

“Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately. My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God’s huge love for all of us.”

Bure Response

Having had her chestnuts roasted over an open flame by the internet and other celebrities, former Hallmark Channel mainstay Bure spoke out about the backlash to her inflammatory remarks regarding her new network, Great American Family.

Her Christmas content favors “traditional marriage” above LGBTQ love tales and emphasizes heterosexual relationships.

“All of you who know me know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone,” she said.

“It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn’t be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.”

Furthermore, she elaborated on her love for God and others.

“I am a devoted Christian, which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God. Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately,” she continued.

“My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God’s huge love for all of us.”

Love Goes a Long Way

She blasted the media for using this platform to stoke the flames of strife and hate, but she also sent them a “simple message”: “I love you anyway,” she added.

“To those who hate what I value and who are attacking me online: I love you. To those who have tried to assassinate my character: I love you. To everyone reading this, of any race, creed, sexuality, or political party, including those who have tried to bully me with name-calling, I love you,” Bure wrote in the statement.

After the Wall Street Journal profile on Monday, in which she and Great American Family boss Bill Abbott defended the network’s position, Bure was subjected to a deluge of criticism.

Bure provided more details on the Wall Street Journal article in her statement on Wednesday.

Following the first remarks, actress Hilarie Burton referred to Bure and Abbott as “disgusting” for their opinions, and LGBT musician JoJo Siwa, who had previously claimed that Bure was the rudest celebrity she had ever encountered, also criticized the former Full House star’s assertion.

“Honestly, I can’t believe, after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+ but then also talk about it in the press,” Siwa took to Instagram to express her disapproval. “This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people.”

BTS Jin Takes a Break from the Music Industry, Goes into Military Service

BTS’s Jin has begun his Korean military service, becoming the first member of the iconic group to make the move.

And as one of K-pop’s biggest names and oldest members, fans and industry aficionados will miss Jin for at least two years.

On Tuesday, a 30-year-old started his recruiting journey with an adorable new look – the classic military haircut. He proudly documented this milestone with a photo as he prepared to join the ranks of brave Korean soldiers and soldiers.

“It looks cuter than I expected,” he stated.

South Korea remains in an unresolved dispute with North Korea. Therefore, all eligible men are obliged to serve their country through military service.

Jin embarks on an exciting and arduous journey to the Korean border for a five-week boot camp workout.

Fans of the soldier were thrilled when it was announced he would be assigned to a frontline unit, prompting an outpouring of support for his incredible bravery.

Jin Assignment

So what can Jin expect on the front lines?

Jin has recently joined an intense military boot camp in Yeoncheon, where recruits tough out their training by sleeping on rugged mats amongst a crowd of 30.

Among other drills and lessons learned here, they are taught the indispensable skills to handle weapons as well as fire live ammunition before being tested in realistic wartime simulations.

Cadets were presented with some of the toughest tests imaginable: from being locked inside a gas chamber to feel first-hand the effects CS gas has, as well as having to detonate an active grenade.

After rigorous training, Jin will be assigned to a frontline unit at the edge of North Korea – ready and prepared for anything.

North and South Korea have been separated for decades by a 2.5-mile swath of land, the infamous Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). At odds with one another, these two nations are heavily guarded by barbed wire fences that stretch along their borders to control access.

Factors on the Service

Yang Soo-yeon, who graduated from Yeoncheon last year, has taken on the great responsibility of defending one of the world’s most important borders.

As an out-post guard at the DMZ, Yang surveyed North Korean forces through his thermal imaging equipment during long nights on watch with the 5th Infantry Division – indeed, a frontline position that demanded vigilance and courage.

“A few times, I saw the North Korean soldiers being beaten, either kicked or slapped in the face,” he stated. “They had to do manual labor because they didn’t have nice equipment like us to help them.”

After witnessing the North Korean soldiers, Yang reflected on his own life and felt immense appreciation for what he had.

“When I saw what they had to do, I realized, ‘Wow, I am so much more comfortable.’ I would feel sorry for them,” he noted.

BTS’s Jin will soon face the fury of a fierce winter! Yang remembers struggling against brisk winds and treacherous snowdrifts to shovel when temperatures plummeted as low -as 20C.

“When we went outside, our eyelashes would freeze,” he stated. “Because we carried guns loaded with ammunition, we had to remain calm, so there was no harassment or beatings.”

While many enlisted in the military for its benefits, Yang was eager to serve his country through an elevated level of commitment. He volunteered as a frontline guard and had the opportunity to enjoy more time off base than other ranks.

Jin may find himself further from the demilitarized zone than Heo Sungyoung, who spent two years with the 6th Corps Command Centre.

Service to the Country

Young men living in South Korea feel the strain of mandatory military service, which often forces them to take a break from their studies and careers – not to mention time away from family and friends.

For months, speculation swirled in South Korea that the Army could grant a special allowance and exempt members of BTS from mandatory military service due to their immense contribution to the country’s economy.

Many argued that permitting them to continue producing lucrative earnings would be best for national interests instead.

In October, BTS shocked fans as they each announced their plans to join the military. Jin was set to take on this responsibility as the oldest member first.

Fans were shocked by the news that their beloved star was being deployed to fight on a dangerous front line, having expected less hazardous duties.

Celebrities once enjoyed certain privileges while serving in the military, but when people discovered that some were receiving preferential treatment, public outcry ensued.

As a result of this discontent and pressure from the civilian leadership, 2013 saw an end to these unequal standards with the abolishment of any two-tier system for celebrity service members.

Jin’s fans have been fervently expressing their love and admiration for him with an impressive outpouring of messages.

They are undoubtedly heartbroken to see the singer-songwriter embarking on a break from social media – but there is comfort in knowing that his devoted fan base will eagerly await Jin’s eventual return.

“Please take care and bring enough warm clothes and medicine,” Maliah Leah wrote. “I hope your colleagues treat you well. We will be waiting patiently for your comeback.”

Natasha Bure Spills Common Misconceptions on Growing Up with Famous Parents

Photo: INQUISITR

Natasha Bure reveals real experiences growing up in a famous household.

The Hallmark actress shared the biggest conception about her life as a daughter of two well-known figures in an interview with PEOPLE.

Natasha’s family is one that has been featured in the media for years. Her mom Candace Cameron Bure played D.J. Tanner on Full House, while her dad Valeri was a professional hockey player. Natasha has two brothers named Lev, 22, and Maksim, 20.

Revealing some details about her childhood, the 23-year-old actress tells PEOPLE, “the misconception is that everything is handed to you, or that you don’t have to work for what you get.”

“I personally feel like I have been experiencing that from when I was super little,” she further states. “Whether it would be if I would get casted in a school play or something, I had people and friends that would say, ‘Oh, it’s just because her mom got her the role,’ or things like that.”

According to Natasha, who recently played a part in Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden: Haunted by Murder, as a matter of fact, the reality of her life is “the opposite.”

Natasha, who recently played a part in Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden: Haunted by Murder, adds that the reality of her life is quite “the opposite.”

“My parents are so far removed from my life,” she elaborates. “They wish that they were more involved, which is actually something we joke about all the time.”

She continues, “I would say that I work for everything that I get, and I’m hustling on my own, and I have a completely separate life from my parents, or from anyone, really.”

Natasha also uncovered how people frequently jump to conclusions or speculate when a person hustles in the same industry a family member or parent is in.

“Obviously, for me, that’s my mom,” she says. “We are in the same industry, although eventually, I would love to do a lot of different stuff than what she does.”

“I think people easily compare you and then just think that you’re fed into this lane, in this avenue, and it’s honestly quite the opposite,” she confirms. “So, it can be frustrating at times, but at the end of the day, I know what I work for, I know what I’m doing, and that’s really all that matters.”

Natasha has more than half a million followers on her social media handles, and she’s been able to parlay that into an acting career in Hollywood. But for the actress, it’s all about doing something good with the influence.

“I just honestly try to use my platform to speak positively about different things and share my life authentically,” she states. “If I can help anybody, whether that be a younger girl I could be a bigger sister to, just in any way, shape, or form, that’s to me what’s most important.”

“If social media goes away tomorrow, I would be okay,” she finally says. “But, as long as people just feel positively impacted by mine, then that’s really all that matters to me.”
