Marissa Luna, a twenty-year-old country/pop artist from Birmingham, Alabama, has been writing music since she was thirteen. She writes most of her own music, plays the guitar and piano, and is currently a sophomore at the University of Alabama. On October 7, 2023, Marissa was crowned Miss University of Alabama, showcasing her versatility and talent beyond the musical realm. In June of 2023, she finished in the top 12 in the Miss Alabama contest.

With 14 singles already under her belt, Marissa is working on her first EP scheduled for release in January 2024. She has opened for renowned artists like Maddie and Tae in Birmingham, and shared the stage with Yolanda Adams and Walker Hayes. Notably, in March of 2023, Marissa was invited to perform at the Alabama Music Hall Of Fame Inductions, where she delivered a captivating rendition of Tanya Tucker’s number 1 hit “What’s Your Mama’s Name Child,” written by Hall of Fame Inductee, Peanutt Montgomery.
Adding to her impressive resume, Marissa played at the Irondale Music Festival in September 2023 and has sung the National Anthem at The Birmingham Bulls championship games, University of Alabama Athletic Events, and for the Birmingham Barons. Her collaboration with Nashville Star Robert Abernathy on the new Christmas song “Christmas Eve Alone,” scheduled for release on November 10, 2023, is highly anticipated. The duo is even set to perform the festive track on Good Morning America prior to Christmas 2023.
Marissa Luna’s journey into the spotlight began at the age of six when she started performing and singing in theatre. She graced the stages of Red Mountain Theatre and Virginia Sanford Theatre, and despite making it to Broadway, her journey took an unexpected turn due to the COVID-19 pandemic, redirecting her focus to her burgeoning music career.
Vocally trained in classical music as well, Marissa sought guidance from some of the best voice coaches in the industry. Mama J of Atlanta, who also coached Justin Bieber and Usher, Amy Murphy of Birmingham with training in Julliard, and Steve Pennington, a renowned coach in the Southern States, have all played a part in shaping Marissa’s mesmerizing voice.
As the next few months unfold and the start of 2024 approaches, Marissa Luna will be a prominent presence in the Southern States, representing the University of Alabama as Miss University of Alabama. Alongside her beauty pageant commitments, she will be performing across Alabama, concluding her new Country EP set for release in January 2024.
