Jeremy Clarkson Apologizes to Prince Harry and Meghan for Controversial Column in The Sun

Jeremy Clarkson, the previous host of Top Gear, has publicly apologized to Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for a controversial column he wrote in The Sun newspaper.

In the article, Clarkson used disparaging language towards Meghan and made offensive references to her.

In a statement released on Monday, Clarkson said that he had emailed the couple on Christmas Day to express his remorse for his language and behavior. He acknowledged that his words were “disgraceful” and stated that he was “profoundly sorry” for any hurt he may have caused.

The column in question, which was published in December, included a passage where Clarkson wrote about Meghan being pelted with excrement. The Sun newspaper has since removed the article from its website and issued an apology for its publication.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan commented on the incident, stating that it was not an isolated incident for Clarkson and that the couple had received similar treatment from the media in the past.

Clarkson had also released a statement before Christmas, expressing his regret for the hurt caused by his article. He stated that he was “horrified” to have caused such offense and promised to take a more responsible approach in the future.

In the column, Clarkson wrote that he lay in bed “dreaming of the day when she [Meghan] is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her”.

Furthermore, he said “everyone who’s my age thinks the same way”, and that her appeal to young individuals who “think she was a prisoner of Buckingham Palace” made him “despair.”

After It Was Published

A record number of 25,000 complaints have been made to the press regulator Ipso since the publication of Jeremy Clarkson’s controversial column in The Sun newspaper.

The piece, which made offensive references to the Duchess of Sussex, has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

In response, Clarkson took to social media to issue a public apology and take responsibility for his actions.

In a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, the presenter of Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm and ITV’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire? admitted that he usually reads what he’s written before filing his copy but on this occasion, he was home alone and in a hurry.

He acknowledged that this was no excuse for the hurt caused by his words and promised to be more mindful in the future.

“So when I’d finished, I just pressed send. And then, when the column appeared the next day, the land mine exploded.”

He acknowledged that he had made a mistake and realized that he had “completely messed up” after reading the article in The Sun.

“You are sweaty and cold at the same time. And your head pounds. And you feel sick. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Had I really said that? It was horrible.”

He explained that he had been inspired by a scene in Game of Thrones when he wrote about the Duchess being abused in the street, but he forgot to mention it in the article.

“So it looked like I was actually calling for revolting violence to rain down on Meghan’s head.”

The Duke and Duchess

According to a statement from a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Clarkson only sent his apology to Prince Harry.

“While a new public apology has been issued today by Mr Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny,” the spokesperson stated.

“Unless each of his other pieces were also written ‘in a hurry’, as he states, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident shared in haste, but rather a series of articles shared in hate.”

In a recent conversation with ITV, Prince Harry criticized Clarkson and also expressed his disappointment that members of the Royal Family did not speak out about the issue at the time.

In his statement, Clarkson further said he had “tried to explain” himself. “But still, there were calls for me to be sacked and charged with a hate crime. More than 60 MPs demanded action to be taken. ITV, who make Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and Amazon, who make the Farm Show and the Grand Tour, were incandescent.”

It was then that he “wrote to everyone who works with me saying how sorry I was” and emailed the duke and duchess.

“On Christmas morning, I emailed Harry and Meghan in California to apologise to them too. I said I was baffled by what they had been saying on TV but that the language I’d used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry.”

The Clash

Clarkson recently had a public spat with Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, over an article that was published in The Sun. The article, which was written by Clarkson, criticized Markle for her recent public statements on voting and political activism.

In his article, Clarkson wrote that Markle’s statements were “divisive” and that she should “stick to acting.” He also accused her of being “a Hollywood actress who hasn’t lived here long enough to understand our country.”

Markle responded to the article by issuing a statement through her spokesperson, in which she said, “This is just further proof that the media landscape is toxic and needs reform.”

She also pointed out that she has been a resident of the United Kingdom for several years and has “a deep understanding and appreciation for this country.”

The clash between Clarkson and Markle has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many people taking sides and expressing their opinions on the matter.

Some have defended Markle, saying that she has every right to speak out on issues that are important to her, while others have sided with Clarkson, arguing that celebrities should not involve themselves in politics.

Joanna Danielle Olsen Elevates the Tampa Business Scene with Her Successful Ventures and Philanthropic Efforts

It is not easy to pursue one’s dreams, especially if naysayers urge us to stop as soon as a roadblock is up ahead. Yet, a common trait among the successful few is their immovable determination despite all the trials and obstacles thrown their way. Others call it stubbornness. Entrepreneur and philanthropist Joanna Danielle Olsen calls it determination. Joanna’s 25 years in business tested her commitment to her dream, and she has risen above adversity every time.

“I have learned to never give up no matter what obstacles come my way. Each city has brought its individual challenges that I have had to overcome,” shared Joanna about her business venture that has expanded throughout the country.

Joanna’s exciting adventure into business and entrepreneurship started when she was young. She has always been passionate about architecture and design. Unfortunately, at a young age, she had to earn money to send in her university applications. Already encountering a roadblock at the start of one’s journey would have easily discouraged some people from pursuing the path further. But Joanna was strong-willed. Not to mention, her parents have always been nothing but supportive of her dreams. They always reminded her that she could do anything she wanted, which is why she managed to attend and graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Architecture through sheer perseverance and hope.

Almost immediately after graduation, she worked for top design firms in Atlanta. Later, she and her friends had the idea of opening a nightclub that would serve as a melting pot of all things fashion, art and music. They successfully opened Paradox by taking inspiration from her travels around the globe and the art shows she attended. Later, this will serve as the gateway venture for Joanna’s deep dive into the entrepreneurial pool. In 2000, she won Glamour magazine’s Woman of the Year for her achievements in business as well as her community outreach efforts.

Her entrepreneurial career was further solidified when she was offered a deal by fellow business owner Liliana Lovell whom she met on one of her trips to New York. Liliana is the founder of the globally-famous themed bar Coyote Ugly Saloon. Joanna opened her franchise in Tampa, which is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary soon. Within a few years, she opened three more branches in Tampa, Atlanta, and Panama City Beach.

Now a seasoned businesswoman, Joanna leads by example for her community with her philanthropic efforts, such as providing supplies for the homeless and contributing to several organizations in the area. Her empathy is also well-known among her employees, who can attest to her warmhearted management style. Joanna recognizes that her staff contributes significantly to the success she has earned through the years. Therefore, she does not hesitate to give them the proper compensation and assistance, especially during the pandemic.

In contrast to the stereotypical businessman’s stark and cold image, Joanna demonstrates the loyalty and success one can have as a result of kindness and empathy. The steps she has taken in her career are done in the context of friendship and passion. A testament to the long-observed “pay-it-forward” lifestyle, Joanna inspires budding entrepreneurs and other people in the industry as much as her parents first inspired her to reach for her dreams.

Lacey Chabert Defends Hallmark Against Statements from Candace Cameron Bure

Lacey Chabert, a former fictional Toaster Strudel heiress who is now the queen of the Hallmark Channel, has commented on Candace Cameron Bure’s criticism of the channel.

After Bure claimed that Hallmark is “a completely different network than when I started” because of a leadership change, Chabert, a staple on the cable network which has appeared in more than 20 Hallmark movies, defended the channel.

Hallmark reiterated a commitment to diversity and inclusion in its programming, including LGTBQ+ storylines.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Chabert, who, in addition to her starring roles, also executive produces and develops titles, said that she has “found a real home in Hallmark.”

Furthermore, she added that any alteration she’s seen amid the shift “has been embracing our creative ideas, and it’s my responsibility to the audience who continue to tune into my movies that I give the best I have to offer.”

“That’s always my mission,” she stated. “I’ll never abandon what Hallmark means for me, which is that everything is centered around the heart. I don’t think there are any plans for that to change anytime soon.”

When questioned about her thoughts on prominent Hallmark stars “defecting” to Great American Family, such as Bure and Danica McKellar (who is currently the network’s chief creative officer), Chabert merely expressed her good wishes for them.

“I wish everybody the best,” she stated. “I really can’t comment on it further other than I care about everybody involved.”

Network Poach

When asked if the network had attempted to “poach” her, Chabert responded diplomatically.

“I’m with Hallmark, and I work for them,” the Mean Girls star stated. “I’m so sorry, but I’ll just have to leave it at that.”

Before joining GAF, Bure was a stalwart of Hallmark, and last month, when she discussed the leadership changes in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, she stirred some controversy.

Notably, her remarks regarding the exclusion of LGBTQ+ films and the maintenance of traditional weddings as the mainstay of GAF programming garnered criticism from other actors and spectators.

The entire situation caused the former Full House cast member to explain her position in a statement.

“I am a devoted Christian. Which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God,” Bure stated.

“Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately. My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God’s huge love for all of us.”

Bure Response

Having had her chestnuts roasted over an open flame by the internet and other celebrities, former Hallmark Channel mainstay Bure spoke out about the backlash to her inflammatory remarks regarding her new network, Great American Family.

Her Christmas content favors “traditional marriage” above LGBTQ love tales and emphasizes heterosexual relationships.

“All of you who know me know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone,” she said.

“It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn’t be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.”

Furthermore, she elaborated on her love for God and others.

“I am a devoted Christian, which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God. Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately,” she continued.

“My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God’s huge love for all of us.”

Love Goes a Long Way

She blasted the media for using this platform to stoke the flames of strife and hate, but she also sent them a “simple message”: “I love you anyway,” she added.

“To those who hate what I value and who are attacking me online: I love you. To those who have tried to assassinate my character: I love you. To everyone reading this, of any race, creed, sexuality, or political party, including those who have tried to bully me with name-calling, I love you,” Bure wrote in the statement.

After the Wall Street Journal profile on Monday, in which she and Great American Family boss Bill Abbott defended the network’s position, Bure was subjected to a deluge of criticism.

Bure provided more details on the Wall Street Journal article in her statement on Wednesday.

Following the first remarks, actress Hilarie Burton referred to Bure and Abbott as “disgusting” for their opinions, and LGBT musician JoJo Siwa, who had previously claimed that Bure was the rudest celebrity she had ever encountered, also criticized the former Full House star’s assertion.

“Honestly, I can’t believe, after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+ but then also talk about it in the press,” Siwa took to Instagram to express her disapproval. “This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people.”

Body Image Takes Center Stage as Adrianne Curry and Melanie Lynskey Clash on Social Media

Adrianne Curry, the winner of the first season of America’s Next Top Model, recently caused a stir on social media after she shamed Melanie Lynskey, star of the popular video game The Last of Us.

In a since-deleted tweet, Curry criticized Lynskey’s performance in a recent magazine cover shoot, claiming her body didn’t match the character she portrayed in the video game.

“Her body says life of luxury… not post apocalyptic [sic] warlord. Where is Linda Hamilton when you need her?” Curry wrote in a tweet shared by Lynskey through a screenshot.

Curry’s tweet was quickly addressed by Lynskey, who portrays a brutal survivor in The Last of Us, who pointed out that the image in question was taken for an InStyle magazine cover shoot and was not representative of the post-apocalyptic setting of the game.

She also called out Curry for a lack of understanding and empathy for people who may be struggling with body image issues.

“I’m playing a person who meticulously planned & executed an overthrow of FEDRA,” Lynskey wrote, pointing to the name of the military government influencing the United States twenty years after the fungus rebellion.

“I am supposed to be SMART, ma’am. I don’t need to be muscly. That’s what henchmen are for.”

Leaving Twitter for Awhile

Curry took to her Facebook account to explain her decision to leave Twitter.

“Actors and actresses that cannot take criticism of characters they play is absurd to me. I acted in a film that people tore my character to SHREDS. I am not the character. It wasn’t a direct attack. I survived,” she said.

She mentioned that although she is not the character in the movies in which she has acted, her character has received criticism. Curry also lashed out at Lynskey for sharing a screenshot of her remarks with her followers, which sparked bullying and harassment.

Curry stated that she will not be returning to Twitter until Lynskey’s fans stop harassing her for her opinion on a fictional character. She emphasized that her comments were not personal and were simply a criticism of a character in a movie or show.

“Now, I think I’ll keep my NERD movie/show criticism to myself. These people take it too personally.”

Emmy-Award Winner Marc Anthony Nicolas Discusses TV Producer Journey And How Patience Got Him To Where He Is

Becoming a successful television producer doesn’t happen overnight. Given that producing takes years of practice, skill, and talent, it has to be worked for. Producers like Nick Antosca and Dick Wolf had years of experience in order to be where they are today.

Although the experience is a necessity, it is crucial also to be patient when working towards becoming a television producer. For Marc Anthony Nicolas, patience was key and helped him get to where he is today.

Nicolas is a two-time Emmy award-winning producer and is currently the Supervising Producer for “The Talk” on CBS. He was also recognized as being one of the “100 Most Influential Filipino Americans.” However, Nicolas’ journey to this point was a long one, but it allowed him to become a very successful television producer.

Why did Nicolas want to become a producer? As a little kid, Nicolas became fascinated with television and all the different aspects it had to offer. He explains, “Ever since I was seven years old, I was obsessed with watching television. But I didn’t watch it for entertainment… I was mesmerized by the set, the dialogue, etc. At that age, I didn’t know what a producer was, but I knew that I wanted to be working in television. I remember asking my mom at the end of a television show, “Why are their names after the show?” She replied, “Those are the people that helped create the show.” And then I exclaimed, “Mom, my name is going to be at the end of a show one day. You wait and see!”

It is crazy to think Nicolas knew what he wanted to pursue ever since he was young. Nicolas maintained different jobs throughout his life but kept working and working until he finally was able to land a job working in the TV industry.

Although Nicolas wanted to be a part of the television industry ever since he was little, it was not easy for him to turn his dream into a reality. When Nicolas was trying to get into the field, he did everything in his power to get noticed by various networks. After sending out his resume to everyone he possibly could, there wasn’t much else he could do. At the time, he was working at a restaurant.

One day his co-worker quit work for a TV show. Nicolas knew this could be his chance and asked to find out if there was an opening. Luckily enough, there was. Everything started to fall into play for Nicolas, and he had himself to thank for never giving up on his dream.

Finally, getting a role in the TV industry was such a big accomplishment for Nicolas. However, he could not have gotten there without his parents and his hero. His parents were very supportive, yet did not have sufficient funds to provide the childhood imagined. Nicolas knew he had to work his hardest in order for his dreams to come true. His hero, Heather Gray, helped him get to where he is today and pushed him to be the best producer he could be. Gray passed away in July 2022 and was the Executive Producer of “The Talk.”

What made Nicholas look up to Gray as a hero? “I’ve known her for over 15 years, and she was a bright light. Heather was battling cancer, and her challenges only made me realize how strong she was. We both were breaking barriers in the industry. She was the first black Executive Producer, and I was the first Filipino producer on The Talk. Both trying to break that glass ceiling.” The two had an incredible bond which allowed him to connect on many levels.

Nicolas did not become a producer instantly and had to work hard for it. Before his role on “The Talk,” he also helped produce other shows, including “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” “The Tyra Banks Show,” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” He has had over 15 years of experience, and it is safe to say it paid off.

What is the best advice from Marc Anthony Nicolas? “Use your voice. If there is something you want, speak it into existence.

Tell people your dreams. Share what you want in life. No one knows what your dreams are if you remain mute. Once you do that, you’ll create a tribe of people who will help you along the way. If I didn’t tell my coworker at the restaurant to think of me if there is a PA position open, how would she know? If you want it, say it, and everything will fall into place.” Nicolas highlights – never give up on your dreams.

Lea Michele Focuses on Making Amends After Controversy

After the backlash she received from her “Glee” co-stars in 2020, Lea Michele is not giving up on her efforts to restore her image.

Despite her Broadway success with the hit musical Funny Girl, the actress remains focused on making up for past failures.

In a recent interview with playwright Jeremy O. Harris, Michele spoke candidly about the challenges she faced and how she worked to get things right. She admitted that she made her mistake and that it wasn’t easy for her to survive the public scrutiny and criticism.

Despite this, Michele is steadfast in her resolve to use her platform to effect change for the better and to show her dedication to being a better ally and role model. She understands that she must take responsibility for the results of her actions because they have repercussions.

She continues to break box office records and garner critical acclaim for her performance in Funny Girl, but it’s clear that Michele hasn’t slackened her efforts to make things right.

Her drive and determination to do better is a testament to her character and dedication to her craft.

Actress Lea Michele was the target of serious accusations from Samantha Ware, her former “Glee” co-star, in 2020, amid the widespread support for the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of George Floyd’s murder.

Ware claimed Michele “made her life on set” and accused her of bullying and intimidation.

Taking the Step Forward

The accusations sparked a wider conversation about Michele’s behavior on set, with other co-stars like Heather Morris confirming that she was “very unpleasant to work with.” Ware also criticized Michele’s casting in “Funny Girl,” stating that “silence is complicity.”

In the face of these allegations, Michele has publicly acknowledged that she has “an edge” to her personality, but has also stated that she has done significant self-reflection and has attempted to make amends.

“I think these past two years have been so important for everybody to just sit back and reflect,” she stated.

“I did a lot of personal reach-outs. But the most important thing was for everybody to just take a step back. More than anything, I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to apply the things that I’ve learned over the past ten-plus years in a positive way.”

“What I told myself stepping into Funny Girl was, ‘If I can’t take my role as a leader offstage as important as my role as a leader onstage, then I shouldn’t do this show,'” she added.

“Because that was always a struggle for me. So to have this opportunity now at 36 years old as a wife and a mother— to step into this job that comes with so much pressure and a huge amount of responsibility—was a very, very big achievement for me.”

Who Michele is Now

Michele stated that she sees “Funny Girl” as a chance to present herself to audiences as she is now, instead of being defined by her past behavior during her time on “Glee.”

“The conversations that I’ve had behind the scenes with some people were incredibly healing and very eye-opening for me,” she ended.

“I’ve been doing this for a really long time and I’m not going to ever blame anything on the things that I’ve been through in my life. But you also can’t ignore those experiences or deny them.

“They are a part of the patchwork of my life. When I got the call that I was going to play Fanny Brice, I said, ‘Okay, this could be really big for my career, but it’s also helpful to have this opportunity to introduce people to who I am now.'”

Broadway and Beyond

Lea Michele is one of the most talented and recognizable actresses in the entertainment industry today. Following making a name for herself as a lead actress on the hit TV show “Glee,” she has since transitioned to a successful career on Broadway and beyond.

In recent years, Michele has faced significant criticism and backlash, particularly in the wake of accusations from her former “Glee” co-star, Samantha Ware.

However, Michele has taken this as an opportunity for self-reflection and growth, acknowledging that she has made mistakes and is committed to doing better.

Despite the ongoing criticism, Michele remains a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Her recent run in the hit Broadway musical “Funny Girl” has been a critical and commercial success, and she has proven herself to be a versatile and talented performer.

As she continues to make a name for herself in the industry, it is clear that Lea Michele is not letting the negative attention slow her down. She is focused on her craft and on demonstrating her commitment to being a better person.

Michele is a talented and driven actress who continues to make waves in the industry.

Despite the challenges she has faced, she remains resolute in her efforts to make amends and to be a better person, and her work on stage and screen is a testament to her dedication and drive.

Taylor Lautner Reflects on Infamous 2009 VMA Moment with Taylor Swift and Kanye West

Taylor Lautner, best known for his role in the Twilight series, recently opened up about a moment in his career that he wishes he could revisit.

In 2009, he presented Taylor Swift with an award at the Video Music Awards (VMAs), but he was unprepared for what happened next.

Swift’s acceptance speech was famously cut short by Kanye West, who seized the opportunity to claim that Beyoncé should have received the honor instead. The interruption caught Lautner off guard, and he was powerless to stop it from happening while he was on stage.

In a recent interview on The Squeeze podcast, he admitted that he dropped the ball in that moment, saying, “I was unaware that the Kanye thing was not a skit.”

The incident has since become one of the most talked-about moments in pop culture history, and Lautner admitted he wished he had been more prepared for what happened on stage that night.

Despite that moment, he has appeared in numerous films and TV shows with great success. But his VMA incident in 2009 remains a memorable moment that he wishes to revisit and handle differently.

Lautner Regrets

He gave Taylor Swift the trophy for the best female video for the song “You Belong With Me.”

Lautner explained why he didn’t step in to stop West from interrupting Swift’s speech. According to Lautner, he simply thought it was all part of the plan.

He said that he couldn’t hear or see what was happening and assumed that the whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit. “It just didn’t make sense,” he added.

“I can barely hear it. I can’t see them. I’m just assuming this whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit, because why else would Kanye West be jumping on the stage interrupting Taylor Swift?” He said. “It just didn’t make sense.”

Therefore, Lautner was caught on camera laughing and giggling in the background during West’s comments, as he fully assumed that the two were crushing it onstage together. He said, “I’m like, ‘I can’t hear them, but this is probably really funny right now.'”

However, later, he realized Swift wasn’t laughing.

“He jumped off. She finished [her speech],” he stated. “The second she turned back around and I saw her face for the first time, I was like, ‘Oh no. That wasn’t good. Probably should’ve said something.'”

However, Lautner finally got his chance to defend Swift’s honor during his SNL hosting gig in 2013. He performed a complex fight sequence that concluded with him punching the West mannequin’s head off, and nearly kissing a mannequin version of Swift.

The scene received a lot of attention and was well received by the audience, who cheered and laughed at his performance.

Connection Between Them

Lautner and Swift were two of the biggest names in entertainment in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

While they were never officially in a romantic relationship, they had a close friendship that lasted for several years. The speculation surrounding their relationship started after they worked together on the 2009 romantic comedy, Valentine’s Day.

Fans were enamored with the idea of Lautner and Swift being a couple, and the two did little to dispel the rumors.

They were often seen together, and it seemed that they had a strong connection. However, despite the rumors and speculation, the two never confirmed that they were in a romantic relationship.

In an interview with Parade magazine, he spoke about his friendship with Swift and said, “She’s just a great person, and that’s what makes her beautiful inside and out. She’s just a sweet, sweet girl, and I’m lucky to know her.”

Meanwhile, Swift has been quoted saying, “Taylor [Lautner] is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. He’s just so genuine and sincere, and he’s so much fun to be around.”

Although Lautner and Swift never officially confirmed that they were in a relationship, they remained close friends for several years.

However, over time, their friendship faded, and they eventually went their separate ways. Today, Lautner is married and has a family, while Swift continues to be one of the biggest names in music.

Shark Boy

Lautner is a well-known American actor, model, and martial artist who rose to fame in the late 2000s. Born on February 11, 1992, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he began his career in entertainment at a young age.

He started modeling when he was just six years old and eventually transitioned to acting.

Lautner first gained recognition for his role as Sharkboy in the 2005 film, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. He continued to take on small roles in various films and television shows, but it was his character as Jacob Black in the Twilight franchise that really put him on the map.

BTS Jin Takes a Break from the Music Industry, Goes into Military Service

BTS’s Jin has begun his Korean military service, becoming the first member of the iconic group to make the move.

And as one of K-pop’s biggest names and oldest members, fans and industry aficionados will miss Jin for at least two years.

On Tuesday, a 30-year-old started his recruiting journey with an adorable new look – the classic military haircut. He proudly documented this milestone with a photo as he prepared to join the ranks of brave Korean soldiers and soldiers.

“It looks cuter than I expected,” he stated.

South Korea remains in an unresolved dispute with North Korea. Therefore, all eligible men are obliged to serve their country through military service.

Jin embarks on an exciting and arduous journey to the Korean border for a five-week boot camp workout.

Fans of the soldier were thrilled when it was announced he would be assigned to a frontline unit, prompting an outpouring of support for his incredible bravery.

Jin Assignment

So what can Jin expect on the front lines?

Jin has recently joined an intense military boot camp in Yeoncheon, where recruits tough out their training by sleeping on rugged mats amongst a crowd of 30.

Among other drills and lessons learned here, they are taught the indispensable skills to handle weapons as well as fire live ammunition before being tested in realistic wartime simulations.

Cadets were presented with some of the toughest tests imaginable: from being locked inside a gas chamber to feel first-hand the effects CS gas has, as well as having to detonate an active grenade.

After rigorous training, Jin will be assigned to a frontline unit at the edge of North Korea – ready and prepared for anything.

North and South Korea have been separated for decades by a 2.5-mile swath of land, the infamous Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). At odds with one another, these two nations are heavily guarded by barbed wire fences that stretch along their borders to control access.

Factors on the Service

Yang Soo-yeon, who graduated from Yeoncheon last year, has taken on the great responsibility of defending one of the world’s most important borders.

As an out-post guard at the DMZ, Yang surveyed North Korean forces through his thermal imaging equipment during long nights on watch with the 5th Infantry Division – indeed, a frontline position that demanded vigilance and courage.

“A few times, I saw the North Korean soldiers being beaten, either kicked or slapped in the face,” he stated. “They had to do manual labor because they didn’t have nice equipment like us to help them.”

After witnessing the North Korean soldiers, Yang reflected on his own life and felt immense appreciation for what he had.

“When I saw what they had to do, I realized, ‘Wow, I am so much more comfortable.’ I would feel sorry for them,” he noted.

BTS’s Jin will soon face the fury of a fierce winter! Yang remembers struggling against brisk winds and treacherous snowdrifts to shovel when temperatures plummeted as low -as 20C.

“When we went outside, our eyelashes would freeze,” he stated. “Because we carried guns loaded with ammunition, we had to remain calm, so there was no harassment or beatings.”

While many enlisted in the military for its benefits, Yang was eager to serve his country through an elevated level of commitment. He volunteered as a frontline guard and had the opportunity to enjoy more time off base than other ranks.

Jin may find himself further from the demilitarized zone than Heo Sungyoung, who spent two years with the 6th Corps Command Centre.

Service to the Country

Young men living in South Korea feel the strain of mandatory military service, which often forces them to take a break from their studies and careers – not to mention time away from family and friends.

For months, speculation swirled in South Korea that the Army could grant a special allowance and exempt members of BTS from mandatory military service due to their immense contribution to the country’s economy.

Many argued that permitting them to continue producing lucrative earnings would be best for national interests instead.

In October, BTS shocked fans as they each announced their plans to join the military. Jin was set to take on this responsibility as the oldest member first.

Fans were shocked by the news that their beloved star was being deployed to fight on a dangerous front line, having expected less hazardous duties.

Celebrities once enjoyed certain privileges while serving in the military, but when people discovered that some were receiving preferential treatment, public outcry ensued.

As a result of this discontent and pressure from the civilian leadership, 2013 saw an end to these unequal standards with the abolishment of any two-tier system for celebrity service members.

Jin’s fans have been fervently expressing their love and admiration for him with an impressive outpouring of messages.

They are undoubtedly heartbroken to see the singer-songwriter embarking on a break from social media – but there is comfort in knowing that his devoted fan base will eagerly await Jin’s eventual return.

“Please take care and bring enough warm clothes and medicine,” Maliah Leah wrote. “I hope your colleagues treat you well. We will be waiting patiently for your comeback.”
