Much of the world has shifted into digital online content consumption as platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok continue to dominate a large part of people’s everyday life. And in times such as this, it’s the content creators that affect the change— especially content creators like Matthew Encina.
A Filipino-American content and design professional with over fifteen years of experience, most people will know Matthew Encina as the Chief Content Officer at The Futur, where he taught in various video courses, workshops, events, and other digital forms of content on subjects like creativity, organization, and process. He also led the education company’s content team and helped the organization reach 1 million subscribers on YouTube.
Encina’s design and content work are pretty extensive, as he has worked and collaborated with some of the world’s leading ad agencies. Ayzenberg Group, RPA, Euro RSCG, Deutsch, Hill Holliday, Erwin Penland, ADK, DraftFCB SF, Energy BBDO, Razorfish, Tailfin, and Publicis Kaplan Thaler are just some of those companies. He’s also worked with many high-profile clients, such as Coldplay, Microsoft Xbox, SC Johnson, Reckitt Benckiser Group, Honda, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe & America, Starbucks, Intel, Verizon, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Equinix, Spike, FX Networks, and TOMS Shoes, among many others.
Matthew’s work has earned him heaps of celebrations and awards, including 3 Clio Awards for his projects with the giant gaming console company Xbox. He was also instrumental in three Webby Awards given to the worldwide phenom artist group Coldplay for his work in the interactive story video, “Ink,” in which Encina took on the role of director.
Matthew Encina also has a personal brand on YouTube and runs a channel where he shares videos about his creative process, workspace setups, and many others. His most popular video to date is one where he shares his creative workspace. It currently has over 4 million views to date. Matthew provides a wide array of value-giving content on his website and social channels, including a kit page, where he shares all the tools and equipment he recommends to help improve one’s workspace and design process.
Recently, Matthew left The Futur after years of helping propel the company to new heights. He continues to create content for his channels as he starts to plan out the next phase of his already successful career. He’s also speaking at major events when he isn’t creating videos, leading design processes, or teaching creatives and content creators. Encina has traveled all over the world, including to places like the Philippines, Singapore, Canada, and all around the United States, to share his knowledge and expertise with others. He was also interviewed in a popular design documentary entitled Building A Brand, where he shared his tips and insights into the brand identity crafting process.
Matthew also served as a board member for Frame Society from 2012-2014 and helped the group grow and lead a community of independent filmmakers. He is also currently a member of the Art Directors Club and has been since 2015.
