As the world surpassed the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth, the influence that she has managed to maintain proves to be impressive. Decades after her passing, Monroe holds an extraordinary place in pop culture, still gaining recognition from later generations who did not get a chance to see her movies but can nevertheless relate to her story. Even though her fame as an icon endures, the eternal admiration for Marilyn Monroe goes well beyond anything associated with Hollywood.
For Happy Jewelers, that enduring legacy became the foundation for a special collaboration with Marilyn Monroe’s estate, planned to commemorate what would have been her 100th birthday. The collection celebrates one of the most recognizable women in history while exploring the qualities that continue to make her an icon nearly a century later.
“Partnering with the Estate of Marilyn Monroe for her 100th birthday is an incredible honor for us,” the company shared. “More importantly, it gave us a chance to retell the story of confidence, individuality, and self-expression, values that continue to inspire people today.”
Looking Beyond the Hollywood Icon
Much of Marilyn Monroe’s cultural impact was shaped by photographs, movies, and unforgettable public appearances. As a performer during a time when roles and responsibilities were strictly dictated by gender, Monroe rose to become one of the biggest entertainment stars of her generation. While achieving success, she constantly defied expectations by breaking down notions of who she was and what she was capable of. Her story resonates for many reasons, but mostly because it encapsulates the very essence of drive, resiliency, vulnerability, and determination.
Those themes became inspiration for the vision behind Happy Jewelers’ new collection. The designs acknowledge the complexity behind it rather than focusing solely on Marilyn’s public image. The collection draws inspiration from both the legendary star and the same woman who existed before the fame, Norma Jean Baker.
“Marilyn Monroe exuded elegance and rarity, and we aimed to celebrate her glamour, influence, and timeless beauty in our designs,” Happy Jewelers elaborates.
Translating a Legacy Into Design
Several pieces within the collection reference defining moments from Monroe’s life while introducing contemporary design elements that may pique the interest of modern audiences.
Among the standout designs is the Baroda Necklace, inspired by the legendary Moon of Baroda diamond. The famous yellow canary diamond became forever linked to Monroe after she wore it during promotional appearances for the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Happy Jewelers reinterpreted that historic stone through a modern lens while preserving the elegance and rarity that made the original memorable.
Another interesting piece is The Marilyn Band, based on the famous wedding ring worn by the star. It offers the viewer a unique chance to see Monroe in a different light, revealing that she possessed sophistication achieved not only by extravagant designs but also by minimalist ones.
Two items that are perhaps the most illustrative of the ideas lying beneath the collection are the Norma Jean Ring and Necklace. As the names suggest, these items were created based on the dichotomy between the real woman, Norma Jean, and her celebrity alter ego, Marilyn Monroe. Thus, the ring consists of two separate stones divided by space, representing the metaphor of the gap between them, while the necklace unites those stones in one toi et moi. The yellow canary pear diamond alludes to the public image, whereas the white emerald-cut diamond stands for the strength of Norma Jean.
A Collection for Modern Women
Although rooted in Hollywood history, the collection was designed with contemporary women in mind. Many of the themes associated with Monroe’s life years ago remain relevant today as women continue to navigate expectations, pursue ambitious goals, and define success according to their own values.
Happy Jewelers saw an opportunity to create pieces that reflect those experiences while celebrating the balance between strength and femininity that Monroe embodied throughout her career and life. One of the campaign’s guiding principles centered on Monroe’s desire to be remembered for more than her appearance. While her beauty became a defining part of her public image, she consistently sought recognition for her intelligence, work ethic, and ambition. That perspective helped shape the storytelling and design of the collection.

As the celebration of Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday continues, Happy Jewelers hopes the collaboration serves as more than a tribute to a cultural icon. The collection reflects qualities that remain relevant across generations, from confidence and ambition to individuality and self-expression.
“We hope this collection reminds people that confidence comes from embracing who you are,” the company says. “Marilyn Monroe’s legacy teaches us that femininity and strength can coexist beautifully.”
In honoring her legacy, the new collection also encourages a broader message: embracing one’s own story, defining success on personal terms, and finding confidence in authenticity. Nearly a century after her birth, those lessons continue to resonate, proving that some influences never fade.
Happy Jewelers’ collaboration with the Marilyn Monroe estate is available as a limited-edition collection celebrating her centennial.
