Kali Metis Takes Readers on a Wild Fantasy Ride With her Latest Supernatural Thriller Novel, CURE

Lisa Diane Kastner, better known by her pen name Kali Metis, is the author of the novel CURE and the founder and Executive Editor of Running Wild Press. This literary publication has been honored with two best of 2019 and two best of 2020 books according to Kirkus Reviews, as well as several starred reviews and additional acclaim.

A literary genius, Lisa has received several accolades. She has been featured by many reputable publications such as New York Weekly, LA Wire and Yahoo Finance as one of the top ten entrepreneurs to watch out for in 2021. Additionally, she has been featured in FORBES and was nominated to FORBES NEXT 1000, a list of American self-funded entrepreneurs who continue to strive during the challenging times of COVID. Her latest novel, CURE, is a testament to her unparalleled literary skills and genius as a fantasy writer.

CURE follows the story of its protagonist, Luna Auber, who is stunned by the news of her brother’s apparent suicide. While grieving, she soon discovered that the deceased had left her the keys to his apartment and a ticket for a trip to Sweden. Per his instructions, Luna is to explore the unexpected heritage of Birke, an iconic female Viking warrior.

The lead led her down a path to hidden ancestral family secrets. She soon discovered that the terrible shakes her brother was diagnosed with before his death was actually the initial stage of his transformation. Her brother was a shapeshifter- a lycanthrope. But, more than that, she was a shapeshifter, too, and her shaking and transformation had just begun leaving her with only two options, to either transform or destroy the world as she knows it.

A supernatural thriller novel is written with a healthy dose of high-stakes supernatural adventure, a beguiling mix of medieval and modern with a touch of romance; CURE eclipses expectations. The literary artwork has received glowing reviews from readers, critics and renowned authors. One review by Taylor Grant, Bram Stoker Award® finalist and author of The Many Deaths of Cole Parker, reads, “Kali Metis is an exciting and unique new voice in modern fantasy and a writer you need to pay attention to.”

Another review by Suzanne Samples, author of Frontal Matter and Stargazing in Solitude, reads, “CURE by Kali Metis is a howling romp that seamlessly blends various voices, genres, and periods without losing its effortless style. An amalgam of myth, historical fiction, romance, folklore, and horror, Metis cooks delicious conflict into every page as her main character, Luna Auber, bakes cupcakes by day but shifts into something slightly more sinister by night. Fans will surely hope this is the initial book of a series because CURE is worth reading by moonlight and sinking one’s teeth into.”

When asked about the motivation behind the supernatural fiction, Lisa Diane (Kali Metis) said, “while working on a short story for a magazine, I was dared by New York Times bestselling and multi-award-winning author, Jonathan Maberry, to create a new female hero in a story I’d love to read. So I took him up on that bet.”

With CURE, Kali Metis takes readers on a wild, fun, and fantastic ride as they find a new heroine in Luna Auber who will enrich their lives. When Lisa is not cooking up fantasy fiction, she spends time with her husband and their two felines, The Master and Margarita, in their LA home.

Distinguished Entrepreneur and Artist Manager Alex Akleh’s Inspiring Story of Success and Overcoming Adversity

Although adversity is a painful and unpleasant experience, it is a crucial part of life that helps shape a person’s character. This is something that Alex Akleh, founder and CEO of Syndicate Management, knows firsthand. After all, it is through his hardships that the inspiring man learned how to overcome any hurdle and succeed.

The extraordinary entrepreneur is a renowned artist manager known for handling a couple of highly talented disc jockeys. He is currently managing DJs Rated R and ACRAZE, A-list acts, who are two of the most in-demand electronic artists in the world right now.

Like many others, he started from humble beginnings alongside his best friend and artist ACRAZE. He founded the events company Injoy Events, while ACRAZE gradually made a presence in the greater Orlando area. The dynamic duo relentlessly worked hard in releasing music and fighting to play shows. Eventually, the DJ decided to elevate his sound and venture into a new genre. This intuitive move led to an incredible change in the trajectory of their grind.

What allowed Alex Akleh to build such a well-esteemed reputation is his unique vision and unrivaled work ethic that he developed early on. Having come from a tough childhood, he made a conscious decision to pursue a better future. Given this, he has dedicated his life to his craft and learned the ins and outs of the industry all by himself. In addition, he is an exceptional strategist who knows how to leverage the resources available to him effectively.

Always a professional, he does not measure his achievements by his personal accomplishments but rather by the monumental progress of each business he has built. As a testament to the extensive knowledge he had gained, he helped grow a company’s success by turning its gross earnings from $300,000 to $1.5 million in under a year when he was only 20 years old.

Even at a young age, Alex Akleh has already earned several distinctions, including being an industry authority. As a leader, he challenges the status quo by offering a fresh perspective on the future of music management.

Aside from his undeniable expertise as an entrepreneur, what makes him stand out is his remarkable passion for helping others. In fact, he finds pure joy in guiding others to achieve their goals. He is also an excellent motivator who consistently reminds his team to always dream big.

On top of that, he expresses his gratitude for his success by giving back to the community in any way he can. But, most importantly, he makes sure to bring those who support him on his journey as he continues to climb up the ladder.

Moving forward, Alex Akleh aims to continue what he started and scale Syndicate Management to greater heights. Above all, the insightful young man plans to influence more people, especially the youth, to continue pursuing their goals. He hopes that his story will encourage others to keep dreaming and persevere no matter the circumstances.

Canadian Actor Says Kindness Is Crucial In His Rise To The Top

Some people use their social media platforms to promote themselves.

Canadian actor, influencer and online entrepreneur Dark Joseph Ravine uses his for a different

reason.

To inspire, to encourage – and to make change.

From speaking out against bullying to his work promoting kindness, friendship, and authenticity,

Ravine truly has made a name for himself by taking a stand. The common thread running

through it all? From his business to the not-for-profit work, he does to the generosity he shows

others – the message is clear:

How you treat others matters. Be kind.

It’s even written on the beautiful, unique line of products he offers on his webpage. Passionate

about starting his own trends – he always ensures that kindness is at the forefront. Whatever it is

we do, Dark Joseph Ravine reminds us – we can do it a whole lot better if we’re kind. If you’re

looking for workout wear, you’ll find an outfit that reminds you to be kind while working out –

and parents can start their little ones off on the right foot with the cutest little baby onesies that

say, ‘I will be kind boy” or “I will be a kind girl” with the motivational words, “kindness for

success!” underneath.

Though he’s a huge success today, it hasn’t always been easy for Ravine. He speaks often of the bullying he endured as a child. He encourages others to find friendships – something that many find difficult to do in later life.

He doesn’t just talk about kindness. As he told TechDaily in a recent interview, “I make

numerous donations yearly to people in need because I never know if one day, I may need them. Nothing makes me happier than helping someone who needs me.”

‘It’s my mission in life to promote kindness and positivity worldwide,” Ravine has said.

And he’s certainly been doing that.

Over the last several months, Ravine’s star has continued to shine – his work is getting noticed — and he is making an impact. He’s been on radio, on high profile podcasts, and even appeared on TV. (His interview on Australia’s biggest 24-hour streaming news network, Ticker TV; and the

time he was interviewed by Logan Crawford, respected Emmy winning newscaster are some

highlights you don’t want to miss!)

Dark Joseph first came to public attention when he made the Guinness Book of World Records – he had an idea and found a way to make it happen even when most others would have given up, ultimately succeeded – and became a Guinness World Record holder as a result.

Canada’s GTA Sportsplex tweeted out on that day:  “This Canadian record breaker is amazing! His social media handle is Dark Joseph Ravine he’s all over YouTube and Instagram for his record-breaking feats. Today he spread out over 350,000 Dave and Busters coupons over almost 65,000s qf of Field Turf! Guess what Guinness World Book of Records will be making a big announcement soon!”

The recognition led to “fame, fans, and bigger opportunities in life,” he said.

One of the directions his burgeoning fame led? The silver screen.

Recently, the celebrity influencer has turned his attention to acting. In early 2022 he got his first

official IMDb acting credit with a role in renowned California filmmaker Steve Oakley’s new

Series.

So what’s next for this young Canadian with the movie star good looks?

He says he’d like to do more acting, and he’s open to hearing about roles that might be a good

fit. “The roles have to be the right ones, though,” he says with confidence. “It has to feel right.

I’m all about authenticity – that’s a big part of my message. So it’s important to me that anything I am a part of is in alignment with my personal values.”

You won’t see Ravine lining up for parts – he prefers to respond to filmmakers that approach

him. And it’s happening.

Industry watchers say that he has what it takes to go far.

“He’s passionate about what he does, he’s willing to go the extra mile, he truly cares about other people and respects the work that they do. He puts the work in – and that makes all the difference. He’s also very creative,” said one. “He finds ways to make things happen.”

It’s true.

Ravine has never let anything stop him… and once he becomes committed to a project – he’s

known for carrying it through.

Steven Kronick sang for free at bars and lounges around Santa Monica and Malibu Beach in 2012 and later found himself invited to Palm Beach Island where he found himself singing on stage for the first time in his life.

“I love watching how the girls start making their way up to the stage every time that I start going on. There’s a real love in that too, trust me, when you feel that, it’s also real love. It makes the songs feel real, like they are really reaching people like they are meant to,” Steven shares how it feels.

The love that Steven has for the girls that are his fans, is a real love that he, being a God loving American Christian, holds always in his heart. “That’s who the songs are for, the girls that love me, the girls that I love, that love that is always from God,” Steven shares his motivation.

And sure it is, that girls from the United States and all around the world all seem to love Steven Kronick’s new sound that has found its home on 100 music platforms including the world’s biggest, iHeartRadio, and the new Forbes Billionaire owned artists’ favorite TIDAL.

Seventeen #1 Awards is a lot, and for Forbes Verified Billionaire Steven Kronick, who lives for love, it means even more.

Must-Watch Artist Will Buck on His Personal Journey Towards Redemption and Healing

To fulfill a dream, one must be ready to embrace the obstacles and challenges that may be encountered along the way. As a matter of fact, some of the world’s most successful individuals are known for the courage they displayed in conquering their endeavors. In the case of Will Buck, an emerging artist in the music industry, his humble beginnings have proven that one must first have to endure difficulties and discomfort before reaching the summits of success.

Widely acknowledged for his musical flair, Will Buck has established himself as a rising alternative singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, the artist is now based in Los Angeles, California, where he is taking significant strides toward the forefront of the industry. On a mission to share his distinctive artistry with the world, he creatively combines distorted guitar riffs, strong story-telling lyrics, and some heavy electronic elements. His unique sound has been described as renegade pop with an electro-grunge type of delivery.

Will Buck may already be at the helm of a flourishing career, but he will never forget the struggles he had to overcome during the early phases of his journey. After moving to Colorado and forming a high-energy rock and roll band known as West Water Outlaws, the artist found himself on the road for over a hundred days. During his early twenties, he had to juggle between sleeping on hotel room floors, working odd jobs, and playing three-hour bar sets for modest fees and some food. At that time, he cut his teeth as a performer in small dive bars around the country.

In an effort to build the reputation of West Water Outlaws, Will Buck spent five years playing parties in their band’s basement, selling out venues, and appearing in major festivals. However, the band eventually broke up the night before they were poised to play the biggest show of their career, sign a management deal, and land multiple network television placements.

The disbandment was a pivotal moment in Will Buck’s career. Although it was initially heartbreaking, he took it as an opportunity to grow as a solo artist and learn more about his music style. Thereafter, he sold the majority of his possessions, packed up his truck, and headed west for what would be a year-long journey of rediscovery.

In the middle of surviving from seasonal work and entertaining tourists, Will Buck continued to release music under the alias Gypsee. Somewhere along the way, he found himself in a small beach town in eastern Australia and decided to return to the US, move to LA, and look for a second chance.

Heavily determined to redeem his music career, Will Buck managed to overcome having few resources and little to no connections in the industry. The artist spent his days packing T-shirts in an apparel warehouse while writing and recording demos at night. More than anything, he wants to prove that nothing is impossible for those who work hard and believe in their dreams.

While he was in the process of writing, producing, and practicing relentlessly, Will Buck announced himself as a solo artist in 2019 and began to rise through the DIY music scene in Los Angeles. Fast forward several years, multiple EPs, countless shows, setbacks, and triumphs, the rising star has been named “someone to watch” by the Hollywood Digest, “a diamond in the rough” by Voyage LA. He even finished as a semi-finalist in The Opening Act’s Hollywood Bowl competition.

With no plans of slowing down anytime soon, Will Buck recently teamed up with Grammy-nominated and Billboard number 1-charting super-producer Stonebridge to create an electrifying EDM remix of “Wolves in the Back House.” Their vocals find their place among a groove-driven production, sitting in the mix, and allowing the melody to draw the listener in.This year, Will Buck hopes to reclaim his power by releasing songs that speak volumes about his journey towards personal redemption. The said tracks will also reveal deep messages ranging from the unbreakable human spirit to other heavy topics such as addiction, healing, grief, and cultivating a sense of inner peace. Much can be expected from the artist as he continues to show his authenticity and genuineness.

Global Sensation Dua Lipa: Her Pop Ascent and Purpose-Driven Platforms

Source: rollingstone.com

There is no written rule demanding high-profile celebrities to capitalize on their platforms to make a difference in the lives of others, inspire change, and shed light on issues that matter. Yet, throughout her rise to the top, Dua Lipa banked on her voice for more than just music. This pop sensation behind numerous global hits continuously speaks up about the struggles that impact countless people worldwide and goes all-out in countering sexism in the industry.

This powerhouse is an English singer, songwriter, and model whose journey to the forefront of the music scene began at the age of fourteen when she covered songs by artists and posted them on YouTube. In 2015, Dua Lipa signed with Warner Music Group and, soon afterward, would be taking the industry by storm not only with her record-breaking tracks and impressive discography but also with her distinctive artistry.

Today, the 25-year-old three-time Grammy awardee is occupying a coveted spot at the summit. After snagging multiple achievements under her belt with the 2017 release of “New Rules,” a track that served as an anthem for women and girls all moving on from an ex, she continued to make waves by dropping “Don’t Start Now” and the critically-acclaimed album Future Nostalgia. So far, the Best Pop Vocal Album winner at the 2021 Grammy Awards has several Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles attached to her name, currently blowing up the social media app TikTok through her latest bop, “Levitating.”

Over the years, Dua Lipa has managed to leave an impression because of her readiness to talk about socially relevant issues, as well. Her videos have captured the interest of music enthusiasts worldwide for showcasing a diverse army of women, while her identity as an artist has earned her a significant following because of how it is rooted in fostering a sense of community and promoting acceptance, creativity, freedom, and more.

Apart from being active in the entertainment industry, Dua Lipa is also often found initiating purpose-driven endeavors. In 2020, she kicked off the 24-hour One Humanity Live concert, performing a three-song set from her London abode and urging people to provide support to charities helping refugees in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, together with Lady Gaga, Olly Alexander, and Elizabeth Hurley, this pop icon lent Sir Elton John a hand in raising millions of dollars for his AIDS Foundation at the 93rd Academy Awards.

Dua Lipa, who is often vocal about her activism and advocacies, delighted the members of the LGBTQ community when she danced around on stage and waved the pride flag during her tour stop in Los Angeles in February 2018. Three years later, she remains steadfast in her beliefs and committed to the mission of pushing for inclusivity and women empowerment in the music scene.

More can be expected from Dua Lipa in the coming years. The superstar, who is behind the most-streamed album by a woman on Spotify in 2020, already has her name etched in history.

BTS Showcases Smooth as Butter Performance at Billboard Music Awards and Breaks Several World Records

Source: nme.com

When BTS, also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan and Beyond the Scenes, exploded into the Korean music scene back in 2013, no one would have expected the septet to dominate the music industry one day. Hailing from a small agency, the group persevered in the face of a seemingly endless list of challenges, breaking down barriers and ushering a new era of Asian artists taking center stage in the global arena. Widely considered powerhouses and some of the most influential personalities today, the BTS members continue to reach impressive heights with every endeavor.

From sharing one tiny dorm room to partnering with McDonald’s and Louis Vuitton, the Grammy-nominated South Korean household name has carved its own path toward success. It managed to do so without losing its identity and passion for singing, dancing, and writing about life’s pains and triumphs. Over the years, numerous individuals have tried pinpointing the factors that propelled these purpose-driven icons to the forefront, only never to hit the mark. More than BTS’s meaningful lyrics, penchant for transcending genre, and charisma, it is the authenticity, deeply rooted love for the craft and social consciousness that RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook demonstrate that allowed them to stand out. Backed by millions of fans collectively known as ARMY, they have amassed historic achievements under their belt, including the honor of becoming the first ensemble since the Beatles to earn three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart and the first Korean act to receive a nod from the Grammys.

BTS, who gained further acclaim for donating $1 million to the Black Lives Matter movement in a show of solidarity with those fighting against police brutality and racism and collaborating with UNICEF to launch a campaign calling on world leaders to listen to the voices of the youth, proves that it is not at its peak yet. It came as no surprise when it broke several records after releasing its highly anticipated single Butter on Friday, May 21. The Guinness World of Records reported that not only did the superstars gain the most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube with 3.9 million concurrent viewers, but they also scored the achievement of having the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours with 108,200,000 views.

Additionally, Butter beat Ed Sheeran, and Justin Bieber’s I Don’t Care when it garnered over eleven million global streams on Spotify in just one day. Along with celebrating these numbers, the fanbase spent the days after the track’s release enjoying BTS’s performance at the Billboard Music Awards, the same event where they won all the categories they were nominated for, including “Top Duo/Group,” “Top Song Sales Artist,” and “Top Selling Song.”

The seven prominent personalities that compose BTS show no sign of slowing down eight years into their career, and even after the curtains will close, they will be remembered as the act that rewrote history and redefined what the industry means for non-Western artists.

Stars Shine Bright at the 2021 Met Gala

Image commercially licensed from: Unsplash

Source: Variety

The United States has proven to be an entertainment and fashion powerhouse, with the all-out and colorful American fashion-themed 2021 Met Gala. Interesting to note is how this year’s event had many Gen Z key players as headliners. With the 23-year-old inaugural poet Amanda Gorman, 25-year-old “Dune” star Timothée Chalamey, 23-year-old tennis champion, Naomi Osaka, and 19-year-old music prodigy Billie Ellish as hosts, the Met Gala clearly gave its nod to youthfulness and trendiness. The honorary chairs for the Met Gala 2021 included Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Adam Mosseri, the chief executive of Instagram, and the designer Tom Ford.

The dress code for the Met Gala 2021 was “American Independence,” and the event kicked off with a high-energy performance by the Brooklyn United marching band. The red, white and blue custom Adidas jumpsuits by Stella McCartney that the band members had on added color to the whole event while Nia Dennis performed some acrobatics as the band performed. Anna Wintour, the longtime chairperson of the event, was dressed in a floral gown with a ruffled neck to pay respect to Oscar de la Renta, her designer friend who passed away in 2014. Her dress, however, was distinct from the sea of patriotic guests who all complied with the event’s fashion theme.

The gala, which has also been famously tagged “the party of the year,”  makes a considerable part of New York’s return to the social scene, alongside the reopening of the U.S. Open, Broadway shows, and indoor dining. Despite all the reopenings, many designers based in Europe, who are also regular guests at the gala, did not attend for various reasons. There have also been speculations that some Hollywood stars decided not to grace the event with their presence because of either health concerns or to avoid making themselves look bad by partying while people are sick. And some could not attend because they had not been vaccinated—a requirement for all the guests. This perhaps explains why the guests are a lot younger than usual and fewer (as the guest list was downsized by a third for health and safety concerns). Some notable absentees include Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Harry Styles, Blake Lively, and Billy Porter.

As celebrities arrived on the red carpet, a crowd of protesters gathered on a blocked-off Fifth Avenue to demonstrate for racial justice. Police ended up arresting a number of protesters. It made a jarring image of protesters struggling with the police, while the party went on inside.

It was another night of glitz and glamor in Hollywood as famous faces like Kim Kardashian, Billie Eilish, Anna Wintour, Lil Nas X, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and a host of others posed on the red carpet in elaborate designs inspired by the theme.

The ’90s cult classic Candyman was recently remade into a revitalizing entry in what seems to be a renaissance for the renowned horror film franchise. The 2021 Candyman remake directed by Nia DaCosta became a smash hit among critics and audiences alike, raking in $22 million during its opening weekend, topping the US box office.

This milestone marks the first time ever in Hollywood history where a female filmmaker debuts at number one. Candyman (2021) is a modern update on the 1992 cult classic of the same name, adding a modern touch to the original film, which was lauded for its racial themes and social commentary. Before Nia DaCosta, the only black female filmmaker who came close to clinching the top box office spot is Ava DuVernay with her film A Wrinkle in Time, released in 2018. The film clinched the number 2 spot, only one spot shy from the top.

Candyman (2021) aims to separate itself from the two previous sequels of the esteemed horror franchise: Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) and Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999), creating its own narrative within present-day, gentrified Chicago.

The 2021 film is co-written by Nia Dacosta, industry legend Jordan Peele who directed the Oscar-winning film Get Out, and Win Rosenfeld, executive producer of BlacKkKlansman. Candyman (2021) stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II of HBO’s Watchmen. Yahya stars as Anthony McCoy, an artist whose career ambitions take him through dangerous places.

“I am such a big fan of the original film, so I thought I’d approach it from the perspective of someone who cares about the urban legend and the different ways to tell the stories,” expressed Nia DaCosta. Other films directed by black filmmakers just behind DaCosta and DuVernay’s films in box office debuts are Tina Gordon’s Little, which debuted at $15.4 million, Stella Meghie’s The Photograph, which debuted at $12.1 million and Melina Matsoukas’s Queen & Slim, which debuted at $11.89 million.

Currently, Nia DaCosta is preparing to break her own records as she’s currently working on an upcoming Captain Marvel sequel entitled The Marvels, which will make her the first Black woman to direct a film for Marvel Studios. Other notable works of DaCosta include Little Woods, a film that premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, which was eventually released in theaters in 2019.

Black horror stories have slowly been taking over Hollywood in recent years. There’s something deeply haunting about the racial horrors that people of color continue to feel to this day. Nia DaCosta has expressed her deep excitement about the proliferation of these stories and how they can tell them without necessarily being about historical racial trauma. “I’m excited to see where else we can go with Black stories and the Black experience. Many Black filmmakers are working on different genres today, and I’m glad to be a part of that,” exclaimed DaCosta. The commercial and critical success of Candyman (2021) is a historic accomplishment and a great sign that the film industry is moving in the right direction in terms of inclusion and diversity within its stories, how they are told, and who gets to tell these stories.
